"From a Springtime Garden"

BOTP 2022 Barbara Carper Session A From A Springtime Garden photo.jpg

Cheerful flowers from a springtime garden are tied together with a fancy bow.  Crafted mostly from combinations of silk and batik fabrics, the flowers are vividly eye catching. Some receive dimension by stuffing the petals with batting before stitching them in place. Various embellishments bring the flowers to life: silk ribbons, beads, and embroidery. Cotton, silk, and metallic threads are all appropriate. In class, we will use the prepared edge method of appliqué to make our bouquet, and we will spend time embellishing. The design fills an area approximately 15”X15”. (N.B. While I use silk and cotton fabric together in my work, others prefer to use only cottons. Whatever you choose, you can be assured of stunning results.)
