Session A Classes

Basket Case was a re-work of a previous quilt that I wasn't very happy with - I felt that it was too simple but it seemed to have good "bones" to work with.
I had been collecting grey fabric and fabric with large florals which turned out to be just perfect for the centre blocks. I used the large florals for the centre triangle of the vase and handle and picked one colour from that - and found fabric in the colour - for the rest of the baskets. I LOVE the grey background fabrics and felt that they needed something colourful to bring them out. I framed these centre blocks with a flanged orange/white stripe fabric which I also used for the binding.
The next border is made up of rectangles prepared using the English Paper Piecing method. I also used these rectangles for the final border. The large floral fabric was ideal for the rectangles.
For the outside border I went crazy with my lush vines, flowers and of course a little bird in each border. I really enjoyed designing this border. The corner blocks are a repeat of the base from the centre.
