In the early 1800's stenciling became popular when brought to America by European immigrants arriving in New England. Stenciling was popular on furniture, walls, canvas floor rugs and eventually making it to textiles. Although quilts made with this technique rarely survived the paints used during those days, a rare few survive in several museums. Stenciling demands some skill and creativity in use with applique.
Come join us to learn this resurgence in stenciled quilts.
