Missie Carpenter

"The Gardens Of A King"

 Day 1 of Session A

Day 2 of

Session A

This Applique’ and English Paper Piecing workshop is based on blocks from the quilt, The Gardens Of A King, which was inspired by the original antique coverlet called the King George III Coverlet, owned by the V & A Museum in London.   Missie will teach you her unique basting technique for EPP using starch and special freezer paper.   Intricate and precise blocks can be made using this technique and you will be amazed at the results- sharp points, precise curves and quick basting!  We will focus the class on a few blocks from the quilt, The Gardens Of A King- a circular pieced block, and a border block which is applique’.  You can choose if you want to do the applique’ block in wool as in Missie’s original quilt, or in cotton for an all cotton quilt.  The finished elements can be used for a runner or small quilt or you can save these blocks should you choose to purchase the pattern to complete the quilt.

There is a $15 Lab Kit fee which includes a pattern for the blocks we will work on, preprinted Premium Freezer Paper for templates, the thread Missie wants you to use, a few needles she wants you to be sure to try and some Fusible Interfacing used to keep organized.  The entire pattern and accessories will be available for sale separately from the lab kit.
