"Temptation Realized"

BOTP 2024 Lori Triplett Temptation Realized photo 1.jpg

Temptation Realized features an ornery bird stealing a strawberry and is the center medallion of a larger wall hanging or it can be finished as is. It is inspired by a fruit epergne block in a c. 1850 Baltimore Album Quilt in the Poos Collection called Album Quilt with Half Blocks from the book Red & Green Quilts from the Poos Collection. The bird, pillar, and some of the fruit for this center medallion are pulled from the reproduction fabric “Bird in a Basket Pillar Print.” The original Baltimore Album Quilt will be shown in the Friday evening program, “Album Quilts from the Poos Collection.” The original 19th century textile which inspired the reproduction pillar print will be available to view during this class. Besides working together to create your own version of a Baltimore Album fruit epergne block, we will be discussing 19th century theorem painting and hand painting textiles.  Because much of the project is cut-out applique, we do require a fabric kit, which includes all the fabric needed for the project except the background fabric.
